Blood & Cobblestones: True Crime in the Liberties
Explore the real stories that shaped one of Dublin's most beloved neighbourhoods.
The Liberties has always existed on its own terms - a world outside the city walls, ungoverned and untamed, where some of Dublin's most dramatic history played out in the streets. Led by a local-resident guide, this tour traces centuries of crime, conflict, and social history through powerful storytelling and the actual locations.
We cover serial killers, merchant gang warfare, tales from a notorious 18th-century prison, dramatic public executions, bodysnatchers, 'animal gangs', maverick policemen, and the shadow of modern organised crime - all in the context of a community that lived through it and endured.
This isn't a ghost tour, a pub crawl, or yet another Bram Stoker tour. This is real true crime - honest history, told on the streets where it happened.
Please note, the tour doesn't finish at the exact location as the start point, but we'll wrap up a short walk (5-7 min) from the start point. On the tour we'll cover the following areas:
- Christchurch Cathedral (outside)
- Cook Street
- St Audeon's Park
- Thomas Street
- Saint Catherine's Church Graveyard
- Meath Street
- Vicar Street
The tour route is approx 1.5km in total. It's a leisurely stroll with small inclines. Please wear comfortable footwear and pack a rain jacket (just in case, it's Dublin!)
