The Secret History and Legends of Kyoto

The tour lasts 2 hours
Available in English and Spanish

Description

Kyoto has a thousand years of history, and most tours barely scratch the surface. This walk is for travelers who want more depth — the ones who aren't satisfied with dates and names, but want to truly understand the city they're walking through.

It isn't a quick or superficial tour. It's a calm, unhurried walk where Kyoto's history, legends, and culture are told with the time they deserve.

We'll walk through some of the city's oldest and most significant neighborhoods. I share what I know, you ask what you'd like to know, and we move at the pace of the conversation.
I'm Xavier — a writer and historian with a background in art history and symbolism. I've spent years studying Japan, its religion, myths, and history, and I love sharing it with curious travelers.

This is a tour that will focus on the eastern part of Kyoto: Higashiyama and the biggest Geisha district: Gion. And will include temples and shrines, as well as hidden streets where the Geisha still walk and a lot of stories and legends.

Enjoy the tour!
