Walking Tour of the 1916 Easter Rising. The first and only storytelling in Italian

The tour lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes
Available in Italian

Description

A walking tour in 7 stages, lasting 2.5 hours, during which 7 of the protagonists of the Insurrection will tell us their stories, helping us understand how the revolt came about after 700 years of occupation, what happened during the days of battle, and the consequences of the uprising - the killing of the leaders and the path to the War of Independence. Starting from Trinity College, a Protestant institution, we will meet Pearse who will tell us about Irish identity and the Gaelic League. At the General Post Office, Connolly will share his vision of the Republic, with the egalitarian ideas outlined in the declaration of independence. We will then move towards City Hall, where we will meet Kathleen Lynn, a doctor and commander of the outpost. We will learn about the role of women in the insurrection, Countess Markievicz, and future perspectives. At Dublin Castle, we will hear the stories of Dubliners caught in the crossfire between the United Kingdom and Ireland. We will then proceed to the Four Courts where, with Edward Daly, we will see the youth leading the insurrection. On Moore Street, Joseph Plunkett will give us a romantic view of the revolt, with his love story with Grace and their marriage on the eve of his execution at Kilmainham Gaol. We will then return to Trinity College where the only surviving leader of the Insurrection, Éamon de Valera, will lead us towards the War of Independence and the birth of the Irish Free State.

In love with the island of Ireland since I was a child, I began to be fascinated by its rebellious and romantic history in my early high school years, finishing with a thesis titled "The History of the Irish Twentieth Century Through Works of Art." I've finally settled in the verdant countryside of County Monaghan, dotted with tiny lakes and fields where my dog can roam free and ambush cows and foxes. There's nothing more beautiful than sharing your passions, and here I am to try to give your trip a romantic, melancholic, and rebellious touch!
