Good positive energy made the tour fun. Amount of information was appropriate so one can understand without over load. More importantly, he made the bigger picture of Soweto clear, walking away knowing more than before. Thank you Thabo. There was an opportunity to purchase buffet lunch at the end, so please come hungry. All the South African foods you want to try was there.
Thabo was incredible. We start in a place that I never red about before but is a very important place: June 16 Memorial Acre. The history there is full of meaning. Our guide were very intelligent, informed and specially simphatic. He give us a complete comprehension about Soweto and its history. Was really nice. I recommend strongly.
As a white European of an age where Soweto and apartheid appeared in our papers and on our TV's, I was apprehensive of our welcome to Soweto but, with a desire to learn more of the history and culture, we just had to do this walk. Thabo was very communicative before, during and after the tour. He is extremely passionate to share horrific experiences of Soweto before, during and after the student march that led to so much needless bloodshed; and to show how the people of Soweto now prefer to embrace peace and harmony. Thabo brought to life what happened on June 16th, as you follow the journey of the students and reflect on how just one day can help to change the world. To then see the homes of two Nobel Peace Prize winners, virtually opposite each other makes you realise what a special place Soweto really is. Thank you Thabo for your time, your knowledge and your passion - the local beer is pretty good too! :-)
