Jan ist ein weltreisender Geschichtenerzähler und Reiseführer, der drei Länder seine Heimat nannte – und so besessen von Takayama war, dass er es zu seinem Lebensmittelpunkt machte. This was a really great tour, off the beaten path a bit to take in the locals perspective on Takayama, but still went through the major sights as well. Jan had lots of stories and history to share. We only had one day in Takayama so this was excellent. I would highly recommend it for a good first look at the town.

This is a shady tour guide - GuruWalk had a warning message on the site that this guide regularly cancels tours but I booked anyway. Then the night before the tour he privately messaged me on WhatsApp that he couldn't do the tour because there were not enough people and asked me to cancel my reservation instead him being transparent and cancelling the tour himself since it was his decision. He didn't do that and left the tour active as if it had taken place so that he doesn't reveal he cancelled again. I think GuruWalk should take disciplinary action against this person.
An amazing tour from Jan, he is extremely knowledgeable, super friendly and a great host throughout. Also provides some great recommendations for food and drink! 10/10 must do tour to all who visit Takayama!
