With my passion for history and extensive knowledge of the city, I can provide you with an unforgettable experience as your host on this walk. From the ancient Mayan ruins to the colorful colonial architecture, Blanca Mérida is a city full of fascinating stories waiting to be told.
We learned a lot about this history of the colonial impact on the area and also some interesting 20th century political history of the peninsula. Very entertaining and lively in style. And what was it particularly good compared with the 5+ other walking tours I have taken in other cities in Europe was the information on places to visit and things to do in follow up with special focus on free events and activities during the coming week. There is a LOT of free and open-to-all activities and galleries in Merida so this is going to be really useful. He also gave suggestions for places to try different types of local food - not fancy restaurants but authentic local eating places.
Fernando has a great sense of humor, wonderful command of English and great knowledge of the history of Merida. He downplays how horrible the Spanish conquistadors were to the indigenous peoples of Mexico. That's not a fault, just something I noticed. Thank you Fernando for helping us gather foundational knowledge of Merida.
This was a very interesting tour with loads of information about the historical center of Merida. Fernando was very entertaining throughout, and his commentary was at times humorous. I hope everyone tips him generously!
