Free Walking Tours in Yogyakarta

Wenda did a great tour. First of all, I really appreciated her flexibility regarding the starting time and route. She provided a lot of interesting information about local life, history, politics and society. Moreover, it was not a simple presentation of facts but rather a conversation, which created a nice atmosphere. I can really recommend her tours (she also offers individually adapted tours to different places).

The tour was really great and interesting. We were shown different types of traditional food ans we could also try it. Moreover, interesting facts about the city, its history and local trends were given. Really worth it!

Tara was a really fab guide, showing us some of the highlights around Yogya. He had plenty to talk about, giving us plenty of info, answered every question we had, really great and humorous personality. I got to get a really good sense of the city and following some of Tara’s recommendations, got to see a couple of extra cool stuff. Thanks for a really memorable and positive experience!

What a wonderful tour. We were given an great insight into the local history and culture, and tried some local delicacies along the way. Our guide, Tara, was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and helpful, and made the 4+ hour like a stroll with a friend. Highly recommend. 10/10

I didn't have Ainun. I had his friend Tara. Guruwalk made a mistake and listed a different time to the actual tour time (the other guests didn't experience it). But anyway, Tara was a young man studying in the city and he knew a lot of things and was very ready to tell us all about the city and culture. I was very pleased with him. It was also less of a history tour than a food tour, which I personally liked better!

Tara was an amazing guide who knew great local spots to try Indonesian food and specialties from Yogyakarta! His English was amazing so he was able to answer all of our questions. He knew a lot about Indonesian history as well. The tour was a nice mix of history, culture, food, and ghost stories! We would 100% recommend!10/10!!!

Tara was so good that I booked his tours twice! He was really approachable and made it really easy to ask questions and was able to give a great overview of the city and major sights would still being able to introduce you to all the cool spots that every tourist should know. I also like that he is honest and sincere about what he can or could not answer and will make an effort to find things out for my questions. Really recommend him for yours to know Yogyakarta better!

I was the only one, so I had a private tour. The guide was friendly and passionate nonetheless. I enjoyed the off-the-beaten path tour of Jogja and I would recommend it to people who stay longer in the city.

Tara is a great guide! He paced the tour perfectly so that I don’t feel tired towards the end even though we covered so much ground. He gave a superb overview of the city as well and I’m glad I took this tour with him for the start of my trip to Yogya. All the food he introduced to me were amazing and on point and was beyond what I’ve already wanted to try on my own. Highly recommend Tara for guides!

A really great walking tour. Tara makes the walk enjoyable and interesting. His explanations make everything easy to understand. It was nice to have tea/coffee between the walk and chat with other participants. He is very cheerful and a very nice guy! I recommend this tour very much!

Wenda was an outstanding guide on our Yogyakarta walking tour today! Her deep knowledge of Javanese culture, history, and local life brought every corner of the city to life. Told much about the Sultan dynasty of ten generations, showed us different sections of the palace Sultans court room, entertainment, his different museums, shadow puppets show with nice explanations. She was friendly, patient, and passionate, sharing hidden gems and fascinating stories we'd never have found alone. She happily answered all our questions and even gave great food recommendations. The pace was perfect, and we felt safe and welcomed throughout. If you want an authentic, insightful, and memorable Yogyakarta experience, Wenda is the guide to book. Highly recommended—terima kasih!

Not a lot of walking but plenty of eating! Do come hungry, now is your opportunity to try all the delicious street food that you may not consider otherwise. We had a full dinner and drinks, additional costs but very reasonable. Evelyn gave us info and general tips about Yogyakarta and was very personable with excellent English. Highly recommend.
