This wasn’t just a history tour - it was a fascinating blend of history, economics, culture, religion, architecture, and everyday life in Cairo. Kamel has an incredible depth of knowledge and brings the city to life with stories, context, and insights that help you understand not just what you’re seeing, but why it matters. Covering centuries of history and the complexities of this part of Cairo in just 2.5 hours is no small feat, yet Kamel manages to do it in a way that is engaging, informative, and never overwhelming. The time flew by. I was particularly appreciative that although I was the only person booked onto the tour on this particular day, Kamel still honoured the booking and delivered the full experience with enthusiasm and professionalism. That level of commitment says a lot. The tour ended with an extra touch of kindness too - Kamel walked me to the right place to catch an Uber and waited until my car arrived, which was very much appreciated. If you’re looking for something beyond the standard walking tour and want a deeper understanding of Islamic Cairo, its people, and its history, I highly recommend Kamel’s tour. One of the best walking tours I’ve done anywhere.
