Description
Would you like to delve into the essence and history of San Sebastián and have a great time?
This free walking tour will take you through anecdotes to the heart of each historical period of the city and the incredible capacity for transformation that San Sebastián has had over time: from being one of the most important ports of Castile, through stories of whales, pirates, pelota players, and chefs, leading us to understand the aristocratic and bourgeois San Sebastián, and the beautiful city we enjoy today.
We will also address some of the characters of San Sebastián, not only those who transcended in history but also some who went more unnoticed but are undoubtedly an important part of the painting of San Sebastián's days (from history, sensitivity, and laughter).
We will divide the route into a landscape and historical part, essential to experience that balance between architecture and the landscape that the city harbors, a more historical part, and a more current one, so that you will definitely experience the essence of the city before you leave. Additionally, you will receive guidance on how to make a meaningful visit to the city and its surroundings and to eat the best pintxos in the world.
Book with us and you will receive recommendations for the best places and tips to ensure you have the best possible experience in San Sebastián and its surroundings!

Gonzalo was OUTSTANDING!!! He did a phenomenal job with the tour, sharing interesting and fun stories that highlighted unique secrets of San Sebastian’s history we wouldn’t have gotten from any other tour guide. We loved his stories about pirates, privateers, and Catalina, as well as his sensitive understanding and education about the Basque heritage, separatist movement, and history. He gave incredible recommendations for things to see/do and his pintxo recommendations were stellar. We are forever indebted to Gonzalo for the amazing time we had in San Sebastián—he is a rockstar and deserves much credit and praise for his hospitable, educational, and warm approach.
