### Santo Domingo – Grandeur, destruction, and transformation
We will begin by discovering the ancient complex of **Santo Domingo**, one of the most important religious complexes of the old Santiago de Guatemala.
Among remnants of convents, churches, and colonial structures, we will understand how the religious orders operated, their influence on society, and how earthquakes continuously transformed the city.
Here we will learn something fundamental to interpreting Antigua: **its ruins do not solely represent destruction; they are historical documents built in stone.**
### San Francisco – Faith, architecture, and Brother Pedro
We will continue to the **Church and Sanctuary of San Francisco el Grande**, one of the most significant religious spaces in Antigua Guatemala.
Its history will allow us to talk about colonial architecture, earthquakes, reconstructions, and especially about the figure of **Saint Brother Pedro de San José de Betancur**, whose humanitarian work left a profound mark on Guatemala.

We will then arrive at the **Main Plaza**, the space around which the political, religious, economic, and social life of Santiago de Guatemala was organized.
