Discover the real Málaga beyond the postcards.
An exciting tour that takes us back to past eras that define the structure and customs of the city.
Discover the city of Malaga in all its essence, trough the inner-stories that are under the walls.
On this Free Tour of the capital we will explore its streets and main monuments , discovering the soul of Malaga, its history and curiosities.
What will we discover on this Free Tour?
18 stops distributed across 6 areas, covering nearly 3,000 years of our city’s history and connecting them through personal stories, secrets, and curiosities to enrich your visit.
In the first area, we will walk from the Atarazanas Market to Calle Larios to see how the city's geography shapes its visible architecture, eventually reaching the statue of the Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen. In the second area, we will explore how proximity to the sea connects Málaga to the world—and has driven its evolution—by visiting Málaga Park and the narrow streets that once served as military and maritime defenses. We will also step into the courtyard of the Málaga Museum to discuss the archaeological, artistic, and civic legacy of this major southern Spanish trading port. The third area covers the six civilizations that have passed through here, leaving behind monuments we will view from a panoramic perspective: the Roman Theatre, the Muslim Alcazaba, and the Catholic Church of Santiago. The fourth leg of the journey features Picasso, a panoramic view of the Málaga Cathedral, and cobblestone streets that played a crucial role during times of epidemic. We approach the end of the tour through themes of art, music, and hardship—visiting sites like the *Café Cantante* "Chinitas," viewing Lumbreras’s tightrope walker sculptures, and passing the Consulate building (or Economic Society)—which set the tone for the tour's most melancholic stretch. Finally, we explore the area around the Thyssen Museum—discussing its collection and nearby churches like Cristo de la Salud and Sagrado Corazón—and walk along "Calle del Horno." We will point out local businesses and wine cellars, talk about the food scene, and conclude at the Museum of Popular Arts and Customs to synthesize everything we’ve learned about this vibrant city and its connection to the wider world.
