Free Tour Jerez Essential: From Islamic origins to the Jerez of the winemakers

Discover the city from its Islamic origins to its internationally renowned winemaking city, accompanied by an accredited official tour guide!

Art, culture and tradition combine in the streets of Jerez with aromas of wine and orange blossom .
We'll begin our tour in Arenal Square , the scene of duels and battles, games and equestrian shows. We'll also show you one of the most charming corners of Jerez's Historic Center. Which one? You'll discover on the tour. We'll head toward one of the city's most traditional neighborhoods, the flamenco district of San Miguel, to admire its magnificent temple . We'll continue on to the city's oldest monument, our Alcázar , an Almohad fortress where we'll tell you about its history and interesting facts. We'll stop to see the weather vane of Bodegas Tío Pepe (possibly the largest in the world) and the monument to the winery's founder. We'll continue our tour through another of the city's most representative historic buildings, the Cathedral , built next to the space formerly occupied by the Great Mosque . Do you know how it was completed? We'll continue our walk through Plaza del Arroyo to admire beautiful winemaking palaces . We will arrive at the Old Town Hall from the 16th century , next to the Church of the Patron Saint and the Atalaya Tower. We will pass through charming squares , about which we will tell you their origins and interesting facts. Some of them were of great importance in medieval times, others are surrounded by orange trees and palaces belonging to winemaking families with interesting stories. We will tell you anecdotes and the origins of unique and curious buildings related to the wine industry, such as the emblematic Gallo Azul building or the Tabancos . What better way to end our tour than by visiting some magnificent 15th century cloisters that will leave you amazed. (Closed Sundays and Mondays).
