Hi, I’m Richard, I have been a tour guide in London for nearly 20 years and still find something new in this amazing city almost every day. I have a real passion for travel and have been fortunate to have visited fascinating destinations on 5 different continents and aim to visit 50 countries by my 50th Birthday, I am already over halfway there. However, many wonderful places I have visited something always draws me back to London like a magnet. It’s a unique blend of history and tradition whilst remaining a thoroughly modern vibrant city on the cutting edge of everything new and exciting that there is to offer. I am massively passionate about London and Londoners and hope that my tours can ignite the same in the visitors that I have the pleasure of showing MY City.

About the Tour

“Too crowded”
“Awful views”
“Too many fences in the way”

These are just a few of the common complaints I hear regularly from visitors who attend The World Famous Changing Of The Guard Ceremony at Buckingham Palace. Without a tour guide.

✍⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“The walking tour with our guide Richard was G R E A T! We got to see the changing of the guard with great views! He really knew where we needed to be without a crowd in the way. We got great pictures and videos because of him!

“Our guide Richard was informative, entertaining and ensured we all had a good time and we had time to take photos - a great experience from start to finish!”

“The walking tour was the highlight for me though. Richard was an exceptional tour guide, he went above and beyond to introduce me to London and was very knowledgable.”

These are just a selection of reviews from just a few of the thousands of happy visitors to London that I have had the pleasure of guiding over the past 18 years.

The Changing Of The Guards Ceremony at Buckingham Palace is iconic and seeing it up close is a once in a lifetime experience for many. So why spoil it by having to stand for hours in the unpredictable British weather, amongst thousands of others, constantly fighting for the “best spot” only to discover  too late that your view is obstructed by a fence, tree or other people?

When you can take a Free (pay what you feel) walking tour with an expert guide (That’s me!) who will take you to the “secret spots” (often hidden in plain sight) for unprecedented views of the ceremony. Much, Much smaller crowds, fewer or no barriers/fences or other obstructions, and an explanation of what is actual going on so you can understand more of the traditions and pomp of the event as it unfolds in front of you.

GUARANTEED! to be within 10-15ft (3-4.5m) of the guards themselves, as they carry out this long standing tradition. Which traces its origins as far back as the late 17th century under the reign of William III and remains little changed since.

PLUS! this tour will also take you to the Changing of The Horseguards to see the mounted regiments of The Household Cavalry carry out their daily guard change and inspection. This is the best place in London to get that iconic photo with a guard in full regalia.

The tour will also show you other famous London attractions and monuments such as:

  • Trafalgar Square
  • Nelsons Column
  • The National Gallery
  • Admiralty Arch
  • St James Palace
  • Buckingham Palace
  • Horseguards Parade
  • The Banqueting House
  • Downing Street

And more…

Very quiet voice, heavy accent that impossible to understand, talking to one side of the crowd( other side cannot hear or understand anything). It was 3 of us( one is a native English speaker) and none could understand. Also, we took these tours in each country we visited for many years, but never experience anything similar. We already took 2 other tours with other people here in London and did not experience any issue. Just to explain that we have something to compare. We rebook this tour with another company. It was not convenient since we have plans for every day and should change some in the last minute.

The places Richard picked were great- we were really close up to the changing of the guards and made great pictures and videos! First we were a bid disappointed that we were not directly in front of the Buckingham Palace but we immediatley understood why he did not choose to go there... best choice ever! (We went there afterwards once the masses had disappeared!) Richard is witty, so be prepared for a fun tour! Highly recommended!
