Tour of Amsterdam's historical centre
Hi! I am Aldo, an archaeologist that arrived to the Netherlands more than two years ago. I am an easygoing person that likes to share with other people what I have learned about this country. I know a loooooooooot of details and I never get tired of answering questions. :D I will make you know the history of the city, how it started, how it grew. According to what you like I can give you recommendations about what to visit during your time here, what to eat, what to drink, where can you get cheap and good stuff, where there might be a good party. All my tours are thought so you can have fun and a good time while you learn about the area where you are walking.
Tour description
Get to know the heart of Amsterdam with an archaeologist!
I'm going to explain to you everything about the history of the city centre. You'll get a full picture of why Amsterdam is the way it is today as you walk through the oldest part of the city. I will answer all your questions as we pass by some of the most iconic areas and at the same time you will be entertained by many of the anecdotes about centuries past. The tour is like walking with a friend who knows a lot about the area.
These are several of the topics/places we will see along the way:
- City foundation
- Red Light District
- Jewish Quarter
- Chinatown
- 17th century/East India Company
- Rembrandt House
- Construction of canals and city architecture
- Typical Dutch food
At the end I will give you a list with a series of recommendations that include places of interest and museums mentioned throughout the tour, as well as high-quality places to eat, drink and party. For each of these recommendations you will have a direct link to either buy your ticket or find out the location of the site.
I am looking forward to see you!
