ESSENTIAL Historical Center of VALENCIA with Horchata Tasting!
Join this great guided tour where we will explore the main heritage sites of Valencia's historic center. Ideal for the start of your trip, you'll get a general and authentic idea of the old city.
I will explain the origin of this city as Roman Valentia. We will start at the Plaza de la Virgen, with the Basilica of the Forsaken and the fountain representing the Turia River... Also, did you know that this square hosts an event declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site?
We will continue around the cathedral and witness three cultures. The site where the current temple dedicated to the Assumption of Mary stands is the result of the passage of time of various previous cultures and religions, including Roman, Muslim, and Jewish. And on the route, we will see it.
Additionally, the Valencia Cathedral holds a treasure: The Holy Chalice... Who hasn't heard of the Holy Grail?
We will proceed to the Church of Santa Catalina with its beautiful baroque bell tower and discover the curious Plaza Redonda.
We will take a short break to refresh ourselves and enjoy a free tasting of the typical Horchata!
We will arrive at the Plaza del Mercat, where we will enjoy the beautiful building of the Silk Exchange. And the Central Market, which is a magnificent example of Valencian modernist architecture.
Someone said: "Agua de Valencia"! The Plaza del Negrito is a good place to taste it.
We will continue strolling through the old and noble Calle Caballeros, where the beautiful church of San Nicolás, the "Valencian Sistine Chapel," is located, until we reach the Plaza del Tossal.
Finally, we will discover different walled enclosures that the city has had. We will admire the curious Portal de la Valldigna and the spectacular Serranos Towers. This incredible panorama will mark the end of the route.
