Historic Palma: city of stone and light
Tour description
Discover Palma on a morning tour, so you can make the most of your day, immersing yourself in its history, architecture, and everyday life.
We begin at the Olivar Market, where we'll provide a brief introduction to the city's origins and discuss how its economy has evolved to the present day, from the countryside to the tourist boom. From there, we continue to the Church of Sant Miquel, where we relive Madina Mayurqa's past, the arrival of Jaume I, and the Christianization of the island.
We stroll along La Rambla, where we'll talk a bit about contemporary history and admire the contrast of Renaissance mansions with the modernism of the Gran Hotel. We'll cross Plaça del Mercat and Plaça de Cort, places associated with traditions and important festivals, and from there, we'll head to the imposing churches of Santa Eulària and Sant Francesc, where we'll remember the figures of Ramon Llull and Juníper Serra.
We enter the Call Jueu, discover the Bisbe Gardens and end up in front of the imposing cathedral and the Almudaina Palace.
With anecdotes, local recommendations, and historical context, this tour goes beyond the tourist attractions; it's a journey through the past and present of this Mediterranean gem. After years as a guide abroad, I now enjoy showing off this city that never ceases to amaze me. Would you like to discover it with me?
