The Ancient Stone Age San Francisco Nature Walk

Duration: 2h and 30min
Languages: English
Guru: Chet
Registered on July 22, 2023

In 2020 I was led to discover (or rediscover) the Stone Age past of ancient San Francisco. After four years of quiet research, fieldwork and observations and having two seperate independent archeologists confirm that I discovered 1,000 to 15, 000-years old -or older - ancient archeological artifacts, some for you to experience. I then found more and more - the Northern Peninsula is a massive, archeologist super site. Walk with me from Alamo Square Park as we stop to contemplate life on this hill over 12,000 years ago where we will see rock carvings and petroglyphs. It's downhill to Pandle Park to the edge of The Great Sand Bank!

Tour description

Was there an ancient, lost and forgotten Stone Age San Francisco?
It's not 'lost' anymore. Walk with me - no steep hills, no big crowds - across some of the City's landscapes to experience ancient weathered petroglyphs, petroforms, thousands of 1,000 to 15,000-years old - or older - Portable Rock Art artifacts and the occasional artwork on bone. We honor this sacred, unceded Ohlone land so we do not disturb, pick up nor put down anything on the ground.
Our nature walk begins outside the comfortable cafe and coffee shop, Alamo Square Cafe, and ends about a mile away in the Haight-Ashbury District. The iconic City skyline and The Painted Ladies provide a sweeping panoramic  background while the oldest artwork created by humankind on the Northern Peninsula takes a front row seat.
I will share with you how I discovered (or rediscovered) the Northern Peninsula's forgotten Stone Age and Paleo-American Rock Art super site.
