Free Tour with Ronmiel Canario tasting (Port Area, Beaches, Santa Catalina and Isleta)
Tour description
On this tour, we'll explore the most contemporary part of Gran Canaria's capital and its fascinating beaches . You'll also have the opportunity to taste authentic Canarian Ronmiel.
Led by our official guide, you'll travel back in time from the first landings by the Castilian conquistadors to the current sporting and commercial uses of Puerto La Luz, or Las Palmas , the largest port in the Canary Islands and one of the most important distribution hubs for goods in Spain.
We'll tell you about the various corsair attacks and attempts at conquest in its original setting: the Castillo de la Luz , the city's first defensive fortification and an emblematic site that today houses the Martín Chirino Art Foundation. It's very close to the chapel of the same name, where the island's first mass took place: the Hermitage of Our Lady of Light .
On a pleasant walk along the urban beach of Las Canteras , we will learn about the volcanic past and some of its results, such as the impressive Confital beach, from one of its viewpoints.
Finally, we will visit the Mercado del Puerto , a place that was once a melting pot of cultures, this old square that supplied the workers of the most important port in the archipelago for years.
