Welcome to Riga! The magnificent capital city of Latvia is a melting pot of cultures, history, and architecture. The heart of the city, Riga Old Town, is known as an architectural jewel – astonishing in its diversity, where every epoch has left its mark. Featuring a mix of architectural styles, including Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque, Classicism, and Art Nouveau, the Old Town is home to numerous cultural monuments and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nevertheless, Riga Old Town is not particularly big, so it's easy to explore it on foot. Let's do it together!
What will we see? St. John's Church - St. Peter's Church - Riga Dome Cathedral - The Art Museum Riga Bourse - The Three Brothers - St. Jacob’s Church and much more…

I had a wonderful walking tour of Riga Old Town with Jekaterina, focusing on the architectural diversity of the city. I was actually the only person who turned up, but Jekaterina was very kind and still ran the tour just for me, which I really appreciated.
The tour was fascinating and covered a wide range of architectural styles and influences. We talked about Italian Renaissance influences as well as Gothic, Romanesque, Baroque, Neoclassical and Art Nouveau architecture. It was really interesting to see how these different styles can be found within Riga’s historic streets and understand the historical context behind them.
Jekaterina was very knowledgeable, friendly and engaging, and explained the details in a way that made the buildings much more interesting to look at. Having the tour as a one-person group also made it very relaxed and personal, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions.
A very enjoyable and informative experience. I would definitely recommend Jekaterina’s tour to anyone interested in Riga’s history, architecture and the fascinating diversity of its Old Town.

Jekaterina was an incredible tour guide — she has immense knowledge of all things architecture, and she taught us so much about Riga that we didn’t know (as two Latvian-Americans who have visited Riga many times!). The tour was engaging, she interwove history of the city throughout her discussion of architecture, and she was very friendly. Each time we had a question about a new building (even those that were not part of our tour), she provided an in-depth response that enriched our experience. She is well-versed in English, Latvian, and Russian. My mom and I left with a new appreciation for architecture, its meaning, and the messages it conveys about Riga! We enthusiastically recommend this tour and guide for Latvians and visitors alike!
