Free historical tour - Bucharest unveiled
Tour description
Bucharest is built on layers of history where, by opening windows, we can see the inhabitants of the medieval era, our local Renaissance (the Brâncovenesc period), the Phanariot era, the royalist period, and of course, the communist era.
Enjoy Bucur legend, Vlad the Impaler, inns, churches, Belle Epoque buildings stories - and so much more.
But what does our tour include?
We’ll meet in the park at Unirii Square, by the clock. I’ll have a floral backpack.
We’ll head toward the little Bucur Church, then make a short visit to Radu Vodă Monastery, which, for a brief period, was transformed into a mosque.
We’ll then explore the Old Town, starting with the oldest medieval remnants in Bucharest – the Old Princely Court, alongside Saint Anton Church and Manuc Inn.
Next, we’ll enter Calea Victoriei and stop for explanations at the CEC Palace, Zlatari Church, the History Museum, the Military Circle, Kretzulescu Church, the Royal Palace, the site of the former National Theatre, and finally the Athenaeum (where our walk will come to an end).
Throughout the tour, we’ll share stories about our history, about the streets we walk on, and about the way of life of the people who once lived in these places in different times.
