Through the Living Tapestry of Faith, Art, and History — Discover Ohrid through a philosophical journey.

Through the Living Tapestry of Faith, Art, and History — Discover Ohrid through a philosophical journey.

This is not just a sightseeing tour — it’s a contemplative walk through the centuries, where faith, art, and history intertwine to ask timeless questions.

I’m Aleksandra — artist, conservator of sacred heritage, and your guide through Ohrid’s living manuscript. Together, we will uncover how architecture, symbols, and sacred art reveal deep truths about human belief and transformation.

We begin at St. Sophia, where Byzantine frescoes speak the language of eternity. At Mancevci, we interpret early Christian symbols like the fish and Chi-Rho, born in an age when faith flourished under pressure.

The Ancient Amphitheater becomes our forum for reflection on how empires fall, but ideas endure.

In the Icon Gallery and Church of the Virgin Mary Peribleptos, we explore how iconography conveys theology not through words, but through gaze, color, and form.

Samuel’s Fortress reveals how power and belief were once inseparable, while Plaošnik offers a layered vision of spiritual and cultural continuity.

We end at St. John at Kaneo, where cliff and water frame a final meditation: What is beauty, and why does it survive?

The tour will be by foot, entry fees for the churches and site all together are around 15 euros. (This is optional for the guests who want to go inside the premises)

Book now to walk the line between the historical and the eternal — and let Ohrid reveal its soul to you.

The tour lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes

Guiding since 2025
I’m Aleksandra, a tour guide specializing in the conservation and restoration of Macedonian Orthodox churches. With a deep knowledge of Orthodox art, history, and faith, I offer a unique, philosophical approach to guiding. My tours through Ohrid’s churches, mosaics, and archaeological sites explore the rich religious and artistic heritage of the region, while reflecting on how faith has shaped humanity throughout history. I aim to make each tour a journey of discovery, connecting the past to the present in meaningful and philosophical ways.
