Essentials and History of Brighton

On this tour you'll learn about the history of Brighton from a quiet fishing village to the busy city it is today.  Starting at the Grand Hotel on the seafront learning about the history of the seafront and of the development of Brighton and Hove itself.
After walking along the seafront we will then turn into The Lanes the old quarter of Brighton and see Brighton oldest pub, the Town Hall and some of the medieval alleyways of The Lanes. From here we'll walk to Brightons oldest theatre. Then around the corner to The Dome formerly George IV's royal stables. Finally we will finish off at The Royal Pavilion learning about the history of this royal palace by the sea.

Grand HotelThis will be our meeting point for the start of the walking tour. Here I'll begin with a history of Brighton and the seafront itself and the history of the Grand Hotel itself.

Kings RoadNext we'll walk down to the seafront upper promenade, where we'll get a good view of the two remaining piers in Brighton and I'll explain about the piers as well as Brighton Rock.

The CricketersBrightons oldest pub with the Black Lion pub next door, we will then walk up Ship Street and through an old fisherman's alleyway, known locally as a twitten. Outside the pubs we will be on the southern border of The Lanes.
