Excellent walking tour. We would not have discovered all the areas we were taken to on our own. Thought the guide provided the right amount of history and background to the city of Leiden.

We really enjoyed this walking tour! Our guide did a wonderful job bringing Leiden’s history to life rather than simply pointing out buildings and dates. I found the stories about Leiden’s pilgrimage history particularly fascinating, and the well-placed jokes connecting Dutch and American history kept things light and entertaining. The route was very thoughtfully designed, gradually revealing different layers of the city and ending at the Burcht, the circular hilltop fort at the historic heart of Leiden. It felt like the perfect place to finish the story of the city.

Jamie was a fabulous guide! We visited many sites, he had many wonderful stories, knowledgeable explanations, make sure we were comfortable throughout the tour, and I felt had investigated in depth information about the sites, the city, highly recommend the tour. He explained initially where we were going to go, what we were going to see, how it all tied in to the history of the city, and when we reached an area/intersection informed us about our immediate route forward so we were not floundering about knowing where to head. A great tour, a great guide!

We were surprised that our tourguide was an American who lived in Leiden voor 2 years. There were things about the history of the Netherlands (not of Leiden) that we (Dutch) had to tell him. We usually choose Guru walk because of the very good local guides. Although Jamie did a good job, we would have prefered a local guide, with much more inside information and not just telling a lesson that he learned.
