Free tour of the Archaeological Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts
Tour description
We'll meet at Plaza de Feijóo to begin this tour of two of Asturias' most important museums: the Archaeological Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts. A perfect plan if you're in Oviedo and a culture lover!
First, we'll enter the Archaeological Museum and explore its four floors. By observing the ornaments, tools, and weapons on display, we'll learn about the evolution of the Principality of Asturias from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages. It'll be like traveling back in time!
The next stop will be the Museum of Fine Arts. There, we'll discuss the museum's most significant pieces, from the 14th to the 20th century. Goya, El Greco, Picasso, Zurbarán... We'll find works by some of the most important painters, both nationally and internationally.
In addition to the works, we'll have time to give you details about the buildings that house them. The Archaeological Museum is located in the former Monastery of San Vicente, one of Oviedo's most historic buildings. So much so that it was declared a National Monument. As for the Museum of Fine Arts, did you know that archaeological remains from the city's origins have been found there?
After two hours, we will finish the tour in the Plaza de Alfonso II el Casto
