To pay for my university education, I had to work in different Mexican restaurants. I know how to make every traditional Mexican dish: chile nogada, chalupas, mole poblano, tacos árabes, cemitas. And at the same time, I learned their history and the origins of each of these dishes. If there's one thing I know, it's Mexican food and history.

Join me on this legends tour. At the end of the tour, we will taste some of Puebla's typical dishes.

  • Legend: the friar's dream 

Location: Zócalo of Puebla in the historic center 
We will learn the legend of how a dream was the origin of the founding of Puebla and why it is called Puebla de los Ángeles 

  • Legend: the María bell 

Location: cathedral 
We discover the legend of how it was possible for a bell weighing 2 tons to be placed in the cathedral tower 

  • Legend: whispers of the library 

Location: Palafoxian library 
We discover the first public library on the American continent and the legend of a shelf that leads to a hidden basement with forbidden knowledge 

  • Legend: the legend of the Ovando bridge 

Location: Analco neighborhood 
This legend tells of the forbidden love between a Spanish noblewoman and a mestizo and why it is believed to be dangerous to cross the bridge after midnight 

  • Legend: the hidden bridge 

Location: Bubas Bridge
We will discover a bridge that has remained hidden from everyone and what its function was in ancient times 

  • Legend: The prank of the novice

Location: Candy Street 
We will learn the legend of the creation of Puebla's typical sweets, especially the camotes, and we will taste some of these traditional sweets 

  • Legend: chapel of pirates 

Location: Chapel of the Rosary
We discover the legend of why this church was visited by adventurous sailors and pirates before going to Europe or Mexico City 

  • Legend of mole poblano 

Location: Ex-convent of Santa Rosa 
We will learn the legend in an old cloister convent where there is a kitchen completely made of Talavera pottery and learn the legend about the creation of mole poblano 

  • Legend of the forbidden convent 

Location: Convent of Santa Mónica 
We will visit an ex-cloister convent where once they became nuns, they could never leave again, and we will discover the legend of how some nuns managed to keep the convent functioning even when it was banned by the government and how a detective discovered them and expelled them from this convent 

  • Legend: the secret tunnels of Puebla

Location: Historical Passage of May 5th 
We will visit the secret tunnels of the city of Puebla and discover the legend that tells what they were used for and how the battle of May 5th was won thanks to these tunnels

At the end of the tour, if you like, we will go to a small restaurant where you can eat the traditional dishes you want
