Aegean Echoes Tour of Culture, Urban Legends, and Pastries!

We had an absolutely fantastic walking tour in Izmir with Arya, and I can’t recommend her highly enough. From the start, Arya was incredibly friendly, energetic, and easy to talk to. She was punctual, kept in touch via WhatsApp beforehand, and made everything feel really well organised and relaxed. Her English is excellent, and it’s clear she genuinely loves connecting with people and learning about different cultures. What really stood out was her depth of knowledge. Arya gave us a brilliant insight into Izmir’s history, culture, and way of life. She explained not just the key landmarks, but also the social and political character of the city—highlighting how Izmir is often seen as more culturally open and tolerant compared to other parts of Turkey. It added a whole new layer of understanding that we wouldn’t have picked up on our own. The tour itself was perfectly balanced—covering fascinating cultural sites while also pointing out some fantastic spots for food and drinks. We finished at a great local place where we tried one of Izmir’s unique delicacies, “the bomb,” which was a fun (and delicious!) way to end the experience. My partner has visited Izmir many times for work, yet in just a few hours with Arya, he learned more about the city than he had in weeks of previous trips—that really says it all. If you’re visiting Izmir, this tour is an absolute must. Arya brings the city to life in a way that’s insightful, engaging, and genuinely memorable.

Arya was a very knowledgeable guide and the tour was amazing. She knew a lot about the history of Izmir and gave some great recommendations for things to do. A wonderful experience!
