Corners of Gijón: free tour with official guide
Tour description
We will begin our walk at the Plaza del Marqués, where the port and the stories of the sea blend with the figure of Jovellanos, one of the great names of Gijón.
From there, we will approach the Jovellanos Palace and the Plaza de la Tabacalera, a scene of industrial bustle and a symbol of women's work in the city. We will talk about the importance of tobacco, life in the factories, and the role of women in the neighborhood and in fishing.
We will continue to the Chapel of Solitude, a place of devotion and community gathering, and then climb to the Cerro de Santa Catalina, a space full of history, art, and legends.
There, we will discover how ancient Celtic traditions intertwine with the Christian beliefs that shaped the spirit of Gijón.
We will end at the Church of San Pedro, facing the Cantabrian Sea, evoking the fish auction, the days at sea, and the deep relationship of the neighborhood with the ocean.
More than a tour of monuments, this tour is an invitation to know the soul of Cimavilla: its people, its customs, and its unique way of living Gijón.
