A solo female traveler that has been based in Amsterdam for 27 years and guiding tours since 2011. I love sharing the beauty of the city of Amsterdam with tourists and I am also a travel blog founder and spent my free time writing about my travel adventures such as solo traveling in Tanzania and Kenya, scuba diving with whale sharks in Thailand or becoming a scuba diving instructor in Bali. Traveling and getting immersed in other cultures, understanding their ways of life and perspectives, is the missing pillar in our educational systems. I believe that traveling should be a culturally immersive experience. Building bridges between countries and cultures while respecting mutual differences does not only benefit the traveler but also the hosting communities.

Tour description

Get ready to explore one of the most beautiful and photogenic areas of Amsterdam β€” the Jordaan and the famous Canal Belt.

This charming neighborhood, with its narrow streets, historic canal houses and picturesque bridges, was developed during the Dutch Golden Age and is often considered the most authentic part of the city. As we walk together along stunning canals and historic streets, you will experience the side of Amsterdam that locals truly love.

But behind the postcard beauty lies a powerful history.

The Jordaan was once a working-class district, home to immigrants, artists, rebels and ordinary people who shaped the city in extraordinary ways. From stories connected to Anne Frank and the Second World War, to moments of resistance, protest and social change, this neighborhood carries many layers of history beneath its calm surface.

As we move through beautiful canals, hidden streets and lively squares, you will hear stories that connect past and present β€” stories of courage, creativity and community.

This is not just a walk through pretty streets.

It is a journey into the heart and soul of Amsterdam.
