Tour description
Discover Tokyo like a local — with Tokyo Localized’s Free Walking Tour
Join Tokyo Localized’s Free Walking Tour and step off the beaten path: explore both the historic and modern sides of Tokyo — from traditional shrines and temples to vibrant shopping streets and local neighborhoods. This 3-hour walking tour gives you a genuine taste of Tokyo’s food, religion, culture, and everyday life.
What to expect — The standard tour begins near the “TAMASHII NATIONS STORE” in Akihabara (Electric Town) and winds through iconic and hidden corners of the city: you’ll see places like Kanda Myojin, the shopping district of Ameyoko Shopping Arcade, the Confucian temple Yushima Seido, and finally end near Ueno Park — a perfect spot to continue your Tokyo adventure.
Why it’s great — You get a local’s perspective, with guides who call Tokyo home and offer rich stories about the city’s past and present. It’s a wonderful way to understand Tokyo’s layered identity — the old and the new, side by side.
Flexible & accessible — The tour is “tip-based,” meaning there’s no set fee — you pay what you think the guide deserves. It’s done in English (and sometimes Spanish), making it friendly for foreign travelers. Booking is required.

Insider vibe — Small-group size ensures quality experience and easy conversation. Bring comfortable shoes, water, maybe a hat (or umbrella during rainy periods), and your curiosity — guides welcome questions and conversation
