Tour description
Our free tour of Cáceres begins at Plaza de San Juan, in front of the door of the Church of San Juan Bautista. From there, we delve into corners such as Plaza de las Piñuelas and Adarve de Santa Ana, where we begin to understand the defensive importance of the ancient town.
We continue towards the imposing Palace of the Golfines de Arriba, one of the great symbols of noble power, alongside the nearby Convent of the Jerónimas, linked to the religious history of Cáceres. Through the Puerta de Mérida, we access the upper part of the city, exploring the picturesque Barrio de San Antonio, one of the most authentic with the best views.
The tour continues through Plaza de las Veletas and proceeds to Plaza de San Mateo, a key scene of medieval Cáceres. We then arrive at the monumental Plaza de San Jorge, where the famous Church of San Francisco Javier is one of the great postcards of Cáceres. Before entering the emblematic Plaza de Santa María, the heart of the historic ensemble, and marveling at the Co-Cathedral of Santa María, we will also pass by the Palace of the Golfines de Abajo.
Finally, we will conclude our visit next to the iconic Arco de la Estrella, the most representative entrance to the Monumental City and the perfect finale to discover why Cáceres is a World Heritage Site.
