The Heart of Moscow — Free Walking Tour

The tour lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes
Available in English

Description

Join me for a free walking tour through the very heart of Moscow — a fascinating city where history meets culture. This tour is ideal for first-time visitors as well as curious travellers who want to understand the city beyond the surface.

During the walk, we’ll cover Moscow’s highlights, including Red Square, the Kremlin, and Alexander Garden, while also stopping at lesser-known spots that reveal the city’s hidden layers. I’ll share stories and anecdotes you won’t usually find in guidebooks, point out small details that are easy to miss, and show you some of the most photogenic places along the route.

In around 2.5 hours, you’ll see many of Moscow’s treasures: the Kremlin walls with their imposing defensive towers and the iconic Stalin-era “wedding cake” skyscrapers, as well as architectural marvels such as the gold-domed Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and the marble pyramid of Lenin’s Mausoleum. We’ll explore Zaryadye Park, where urban life gives way to nature, and stroll through the legendary GUM department store. The tour will finish in Alexander Garden, near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Along the way, we’ll cover nearly 900 years of Moscow’s history — from Prince Yuri Dolgoruky, the city’s founder, to the Romanovs, the Soviet period, and modern-day Russia — placing landmarks in their historical and cultural context.

At the end of the tour, I’ll be happy to share personal recommendations for museums, cafés, and other places to explore on your own.

But don’t just take my word for it — come and experience Moscow for yourself!

🔹 Please note: The tour does not include entrance to any museums.
