A Great Way to Discover Moscow with Igor ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I had a fantastic experience with Igor on the “First Steps in Moscow” free walking tour.
My first impression of Igor was excellent. He was very well-groomed, tall, and had a very friendly and professional manner. He immediately made me feel comfortable, and it was easy to have a conversation with him.
What I especially liked was that the tour did not feel like a standard, fixed itinerary. Igor adapted the tour to my interests and questions, which made the experience feel much more personal.
His knowledge of Moscow is impressive. He explained the history and architecture of the Moscow Metro in great detail, but in a way that was easy to understand and never boring. We also visited the essential sights, including Red Square, and he shared plenty of interesting stories and historical details along the way.
I also asked to visit the statue of Peter the Great, and Igor happily took me there and told me some fascinating stories about it. I really appreciated that he was willing to adjust the tour based on what I wanted to see.
Another unexpected highlight was his knowledge of Russian nature. He didn't just talk about buildings and history. He also explained the plants and vegetation of different parts of Russia, including the taiga and Siberia. I found this surprisingly interesting and it gave me a different perspective on Russia.
Igor also gave me some very useful advice about souvenirs. He explained which chocolates and other products are worth buying in Moscow, including some more special souvenirs that you are unlikely to find elsewhere.
The tour was also very interactive. Every now and then, Igor would give me a little quiz or ask me to guess something. It was fun trying to figure out the answers, and it made the tour feel more like a conversation with a knowledgeable local than simply listening to a guide.
Unfortunately, the time passed far too quickly. Even though the tour was relatively short, I felt that I learned a lot and got a much better understanding of Moscow.
And one final point: Igor's English is excellent. He speaks clearly, explains things patiently, and makes even complicated historical information easy to follow.
If this is your first time in Moscow, I would definitely recommend booking a tour with Igor. He is clearly an experienced guide who knows his city very well, but more importantly, he knows how to make the experience enjoyable and personal.
Highly recommended. Five stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
