The Native Side of León: A Local’s Story!

The tour lasts 2 hours
Available in English and Spanish

Description

Meet Your Guide, Discover the Native Side of León

Before we dive into history, get to know the person showing you around. We’re young local students and citizens, and we’ll take you into Sutiaba, the Indigenous heart of León, through our own stories, experiences, and connection to the community.
Sutiaba is much more than another neighborhood of León. Its Indigenous roots are still alive in its traditions, food, stories, celebrations, and everyday life. As we walk through its streets, we’ll visit iconic churches, discover colorful murals that tell stories of Native life, and explore the places where the past and present come together.
Along the way, we’ll talk about Indigenous history and identity, local traditions, food, folklore, and what it means to grow up and live in León today. Expect real conversations, personal stories, laughs, and plenty of opportunities to ask questions and get to know your guide along the way.
This is a tip-based walking tour created by locals who want to share a side of León that you might not discover on your own.
Come meet us, taste the culture, hear the stories, and discover the Native side of León.

Guiding since 2024
Hello! We are The Cooltour, a small local tour project built on passion, friendship, and authentic experiences. What started as Marlon and Mauri sharing León with visitors has now grown into a team of three, united by one goal: showing our city in a way that feels real, personal, and memorable. I’m Marlon, a nationally certified tour guide, renewable energy engineer, and English teacher with over eight years of experience. Born and raised here, I love sharing the history and culture of our country from a true local’s point of view. For me, guiding is about more than facts, it’s about connection, conversation, and creating moments where visitors feel at home. Mauri is a Law student originally from León, the city where he grew up and considers his home. His legal education provides an analytical and contextual perspective on history and culture. He believes that traveling is about understanding the world and connecting with people. He aims to offer an authentic and dynamic experience. Joel, a marketing student with a deep love for art, cinema, and music, adds a creative lens to every experience. He believes exploring a city should feel like discovering it with a friend, noticing the artistic details, the rhythm of the streets, and the atmosphere that makes León unforgettable. The Cooltour is more than just tours. It’s also a space where students can gain real-world experience while continuing their studies. With professional training and supervision, we make sure every tour remains high-quality, authentic, and engaging. We are not a big company. We are three locals who believe in: • Warm, human connections • Honest storytelling • Showing the city beyond the obvious • Supporting young talent • Creating experiences that feel natural not scripted When you book with The Cooltour, you’re not just booking a guide. You’re supporting a small, student-driven project built with heart. We look forward to exploring León with you.
