Rotterdam Revealed: City Highlights Walk with a Local

The tour lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes
Available in German and English

Description

Rotterdam was flattened in a single afternoon in May 1940. What rose from the rubble became one of Europe's youngest, boldest, and most international cities. This 90-minute tour tells the story of Rotterdam.

180 different nationalities call the Netherlands' second largest city home. I am one of them. I'm a history student, passionate about Rotterdam's contemporary character and fascinating past. I started out by giving tours for Erasmus University and now show curious tourists and residents why I call this city home.

Over 9 stops, together in a small group, you will learn about the city's origins, its wartime destruction, and essential role in global trade. Along the way we'll discover Rotterdam's bold street art, independent galleries, local bars, and the restaurants and museums I recommend to my friends when they visit!

Together, we will explore how Rotterdam became the city it is today!

We will start near Eendrachtsplein and walk around 4km (2.5miles) through the city center, the Stadsdriehoek, finishing in front of the world-famous Markthal, near the very birthplace of the city. Highlights include the Witte de Withstraat, Maritiem Museum, Stadhuis, Laurenskerk, and Cube Houses.

Welcome to all :)
