A perfect half-day experience beyond the usual tourist spots!
Join me for a morning trip from Budapest to the charming riverside town of Szentendre, one of Hungary’s most beautiful hidden gems.
We’ll travel together by the H5 suburban train, a simple local ride that takes around 45 minutes and costs 950 HUF (approx. 2.4 EUR) for a one-way ticket.
Once we arrive in Szentendre, we’ll take a walk through the town center and start the morning with a nice coffee. :)
We’ll wander through the historic old town of Szentendre, exploring its colorful narrow streets with baroque-style houses, hidden courtyards that feel like an open-air museum. We’ll stroll along the Danube riverside promenade, enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, and pass through lively, picturesque squares filled with cafés and street art.
Along the way, I’ll share stories about Szentendre’s rich Serbian heritage, its long-standing traditions, and why the town became such an important center for artists in Hungary. You’ll also see why so many painters, sculptors, and creatives still live and work here today, giving the town its unique, bohemian character.
On the main square, you’ll have time to explore local souvenir shops and artisan galleries, where you can find handmade ceramics, paintings, jewelry, and other unique gifts created by local artists – perfect if you’d like to take home something truly special and authentic.
After our 2.5-hour walk, you’re welcome to stay for lunch, continue exploring on your own, or return with me to Budapest.
