Mythology Madrid Walking Tour
The tour will start at the gates of the National Archaeological Museum. Outside of the museum, we will learn about the two sphinxes that guard its entrance, and the reasoning behind them.
Leaving the museum, we will take a nice stroll through the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the so-called 'Boulevard of Light', the Paseo del Prado, where we will learn about the on-going feud that Cybele and Neptune have in the city, as well as the almost forgotten Apollo fountain. Backtracking through enchanting allyways, we will reach the Círculo de Bella Artes and the Edificio Metrópolis, that have depictions of Minerva and Niké respectively.
Afterwards, we will get to the beating heart of the city, Puerta del Sol, where we will learn about the story of La Mariblanca, the popular name of a statue of Venus. Afterwards, we will head to the Gran Vía, where we will be witnesses of the eternal strife between hunter Diana and her prey.
We will end our tour on the hill that is home to the Egyptian Temple of Debod, a popular spot for sunset-viewing and picture-taking with an incredible panoramic of the city.
