Rio de Janeiro: Special Favela Tour Between Copacabana and Ipanema
The tour lasts 2 hours and 30 minutes
Available in English
Description
Located in the heart of Rio de Janeiro’s South Zone, the PPG favela (Pavão-Pavãozinho and Cantagalo) is a community rich in history, resilience, culture, and, above all, incredible people.
Thousands of people live here, surrounded by three of Rio de Janeiro’s most valued neighborhoods — Copacabana, Ipanema, and Lagoa. This striking social and geographical contrast often goes unnoticed by most tourists visiting the area.
Our tour aims to break stereotypes, overcome barriers, share knowledge, and, above all, connect people. More than visitors, we want to welcome friends, creating an experience based on exchange and learning while contributing to the local economy, valuing the people, and supporting the community’s development.
We believe tourism can be a powerful tool for connection, transformation, and building a better future for everyone.

Guiding since 2026I have a degree in Tourism and I am also a certified Tour Guide, licensed by the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism. I worked in the hospitality industry for almost a decade before deciding to pursue my dream of working with community-based tourism.
Today, I run my own tourism agency, whose mission is to break stereotypes, connect people, and showcase a side of Rio de Janeiro that goes beyond the traditional tourist attractions. We aim to highlight local culture, community initiatives, everyday challenges, and, above all, value the history, territories, and people who make them unique.
