We walked to the funicular to go up to the Highland Park. On the way Kamil gave in-depth information about Azerbaijan history supported by old maps and photos. Up at the park, we enjoyed illuminated Flame Towers and bay view at night. The best part was our deep conversation on linguistics accompanied by a few cups of tea served by Kamil. Kamil has an excellent knowledge of the history of Baku and Azerbaijan which made this a fascinating and educational experience. The views of the city skyline at night are spectacular. This tour starts with a walk up a hill. It takes you to the Highlands park which for me is the moment I will remember most about Baku. It will stay with me forever. The best thing on any tour is the personal touch. Tea and dates was just a little part of that. Tales Kamil told me about his dad and his family made things seem more real. Also Kamil's wife (I'm sorry I forgot your name, please forgive me) who came along is also a lovely lovely person. Trust me, when you get to the top of the hill it's worth every climb. I really can't explain how moving and emotional it is 42+ steps????

Booked the English tour but Kamil was flexible to switch to German too. The stops were carefully selected and the duration just perfect. I highly recommend this tour of you want to see beautiful Baku! Thanks for this experience!
