We will meet in front of the Music Pavilion in Zrinjevac Park before exploring the elegant Lower Town, developed during the Austro-Hungarian Empire under Emperor Franz Joseph I. 

You will admire magnificent Neo-Renaissance and Neo-Baroque buildings, elegant Art Nouveau facades, and grand public squares that transformed Zagreb into one of Central Europe's most inspiring cities.

You will also discover the legacy of Ban Josip Jelačić, the 19th-century Croatian governor whose name and statue have become inseparable from Zagreb's central square, where we will uncover how the surrounding architecture reflects the city's changing identity, from 19th-century Neoclassicism and Historicism to the monumental architecture from the fascist era and the modernist influences of socialist Yugoslavia.

We will discuss the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the World War II Nazi occupation, as well as Marija Jurić Zagorka, Croatia's pioneering journalist and bestselling novelist, who challenged social conventions and became one of the country's most influential literary figures.
