The ruins of Hohentwiel Castle are on an extinct volcano centuries ago dismantled by Napoleon who broke the myth that it was an impossible fortress to conquer. Located in Singen, in southern Germany on the Swiss border, 10 kilometers from Radolfzell am Bodensee and Schaffhausen in Switzerland. Before planning the visit to the castle, you should know that all the way is uphill, you should wear very comfortable shoes and what you have to eat and drink in a backpack, to have your hands free to take photos. The tour can also be done with a baby stroller, as long as they are the ones with large wheels that adapt to all terrain. During the entire climb, the landscape is incredible, which forces you to make permanent stops and take advantage of a rest. It takes as long as you want to go up, walking very fast you can reach the highest point in 45 minutes or making stops and enjoying the landscape in a little over an hour and a half. The incredible thing about visiting these ruins and being able to walk among them and get into the old passageways that were not destroyed and remain dark and cold, full of stories with details that are scary but at the same time generate intrigue. By a long staircase you can climb the highest tower and get the best panoramic photos that include Lake Constance. They should think about the visit to do it in about 4 hours if they want to fully enjoy the place. In those 4 hours I am taking at least one hour into account to take a little break.
