20th century tour (WW2 + Communism) - DISCOVER BRATISLAVA part 2

Great guide. Despite being tired towards the end he kept my attention right to the end. I know much more about the country and culture than I thought I would.

Ich habe an der Tour zur dunklen Geschichte des Landes mit Jakub teilgenommen. Es war sehr interessant! Beim letzten Stopp an der technischen Universität hat er uns auf eine Besonderheit in dem Mosaik aufmerksam gemacht: dort ist der "Sputnik-Satellit" abgebildet, und Jakub meinte, dass es hier keine Verbindung zu seinem Land gäbe. Ich war mir gestern nicht ganz sicher und musste erst noch einmal nachschauen: im gleichen Jahr, als der "Sputnik" ins All fog, lief in der DDR ein Auto vom Band, welches eine ähnliche Bezeichnung erhielt, nämlich "Trabant", was laut Lexikon vom tschechischen "Drabant" (Begleiter) abgeleitet wurde. Wie ich nun weiß, sind die tschechische und slovakische Sprache zu 95% identisch - also wäre dies die Verbindung zwischen dem Satelliten und der Slovakei. 🙂

Jakub was very balanced. He knew his stuff and was very relaxed and entertaining. Learnt a lot. Would recommend 😊
