Tour description

Best of Budapest in One day Free Walking Tour will introduce you to this extraordinary city in a heartbeat. You will learn how Budapest, through centuries of turmoil and suffering, became one of the most beautiful cities in Europe: “Paris of the East”, “Pearl of the Danube”, “City of Spas”

You’ll experience grand squares and boulevards of Pest and stunning views from the Buda Castle; you will hear local legends, learn about Hungarian food and drinks, and what makes locals tick. We’ll see:

  • Andrassy Avenue,
  • St. Stephen Basilica,
  • Liberty Square,
  • Parliament,
  • Danube Bend,
  • Buda Castle,
  • Royal Palace,
  • Mathias Church,
  • Fisherman Bastion, etc.

We start early to avoid the worst summer heat as much as possible. Since we really check out all the most important sights (and not just from far away), the tour is long (about 4 hours), but we’ll take a break in the middle, so you rest a bit and get a drink or some food.

If you like history, architecture and funny stories - this tour is perfect for you! You'll get a lot of practical advice and recommendations: what else to see, where to eat, where to party, etc.
This is a small group tour, don't expect a big crowd.
Please come to the meeting point at lease five minutes before the start of the tour. We start promptly at 9:05. If you are going to be late, please contact me and we will figure out something.
Looking forward to meeting you all!

George is an excellent tour guide who gave us sufficient time to explore the city, never rushing to move to the next location and coming up with interesting recommendations of restaurants, thermal baths, etc. He is highly knowledgeable and never shies away from sharing an additional detail so that the tourists can get the complete picture of the regional context of the times that the stories are set in. I’ve done 3 walking tours in Budapest and by far I found this to be the best. Highly recommended!
