Hi everyone! I'm George I have been doing walking tours for many years in different places. I love history, architecture, art, good food, and wine. I love meeting people from different countries and backgrounds, and showing them places that I love.
Best of Budapest in One day Free Walking Tour will introduce you to this extraordinary city in a heartbeat. You will learn how Budapest, through centuries of turmoil and suffering, became one of the most beautiful cities in Europe: “Paris of the East”, “Pearl of the Danube”, “City of Spas” …
You’ll experience grand squares and boulevards of Pest and stunning views from the Buda Castle; you will hear local legends, learn about Hungarian food and drinks, and what makes locals tick. We’ll see:
We start early to avoid the worst summer heat as much as possible. Since we really check out all the most important sights (and not just from far away), the tour is long (about 4 hours), but we’ll take a break in the middle, so you rest a bit and get a drink or some food.
If you like history, architecture and funny stories - this tour is perfect for you! You'll get a lot of practical advice and recommendations: what else to see, where to eat, where to party, etc.
Please come to the meeting point at lease five minutes before the start of the tour. We start promptly at 9:05. If you are going to be late, please contact me and we will figure out something.
Looking forward to meeting you all!
I will be standing in front of Lutheran Church on Deak Ferenc square (where three metro lines meet) wearing black baseball hat and GuruWalk accreditation
The grandest, most beautiful boulevard in Pest is often compared to the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris.
Number one church in Hungary, dedicated to the first king of the country.
The most beautiful big square in the city, with controversial monuments and stunning architecture.
One of the most beautiful buildings in the world!
A sobering monument commemorating Jews slaughtered here in the winter of 1944.
The first permanent bridge over the Danube in Budapest.
A center of power in Hungary for centuries, destroyed many times, is being rebuilt again today.
A beautiful viewing terrace with breathtaking views of Pest.
A masterpiece, nicknamed after the Hungarians' favorite king.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
