Our mission is to respect our neighbors, and the local companies of Alicante, promoting good practices among our traveling friends. Alicante is much more than sun, beach and party. And while we love these things, the city also has rich gastronomy, intriguing culture, and fascinating history. We not only offer the highest quality private tours, but we also believe in inclusive tourism. That is why we offer the Free Tour! The Free Tour means that anyone, no matter what their budget is, can come, know and enjoy the city to the fullest, and at the end of the tour, they are free to decide the value of the Tour. This is a local project, carried out by official guides born and raised in Alicante. We only operate in Alicante and we understand that a city is constantly changing and developing, and we want to be part of a positive change in the tourism industry, and in the great city of Alicante offering a different type of tourism, we want to take care of the city that takes care of us! That is why we collaborate only with other local companies and we offer tours to local high schools to try to promote our history among young people from Alicante. We also see it as our responsibility in helping the less fortunate parts of our city. So we also support a local non-profit organization Despensa Solidaria, committed to helping less fortunate families through food aid, and also by raising awareness about poverty in the city. Visitors to Alicante have rated us as the best Free Travel Tour on tripadvisor and other companies such as Holiday Extras Travel Guides have chosen us to promote the city! We are collaborators in the local radio, where on Tuesdays we explain curiosities of the city of Alicante and we have also appeared in local newspapers.

Tour description

Nueva Tabarca, or Tabarca, for friends , is one of the prides of Alicante and falls in love with both locals and visitors thanks to its charm, its protection of the marine environment with a dreamlike aquatic flora, a snorkeling paradise; its seafood cuisine and, of course, its sunsets.

However , if we look back a few centuries, it was just the opposite, the nightmare of the people of Alicante . And, it is that although Tabarca has always been linked to the sea, its history is marked by misfortune, by the scarcity of resources, by smuggling, by corsairs and pirates who inhabited it and who used it to attack the province of Alicante constantly.
A cursed island that nobody wanted to inhabit until the end of the 18th century, with the exception of the most feared corsairs of the Mediterranean, such as the Red Beard, Dragut or Cachidiablo brothers .

This tour begins in the port of Tabarca , just at the arrival of the Kontiki ship (the only shipping company that operates from Alicante), and we will visit:

  • The Citadel of Tabarca
  • The walls and Gates of San Rafael, San Gabriel and San Miguel
  • The Church of Saint Paul and Saint Peter
  • Governor's House
  • The Plaza Grande and its wells
  • La Cova del Llop Marí (Cave of the Sea Lion)
  • We will tell you the best pirate stories , we will recommend the best coves and the best places to eat.

Join our accredited gurus to learn first-hand the exciting history of this Island of only 30 hectares, but which hides centuries of history and legends worthy of any pirate novel or movie.

Without a doubt, Tabarca gains in charm when you discover its enigmatic past, book now!

When you book you will receive a message, there we will explain how to get to Tabarca from different locations, and, also, if you want, we will reserve places for you on the boat at 11:00 so that you have time to get to the tour :)

The guide will be waiting at the port of Tabarca, just outside the boat, look for El Paraguas Morado! (The boats can only disembark one at a time) The tour does not start until the boat from Kontiki, which is the only one that operates from Alicante, has arrived. So if the ship is a little late, so are we, don't worry, we'll be waiting for you :)

How much does this tour cost?

Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).

Es el primer año que se hacen free tours en la isla de Tabarca y me pareció muy buena idea hacerlo. Es muy interesante y además se hace ameno ya que la isla es chiquitita y la recorres en poco tiempo
