Passionate about art and neighbor of Barcelona. A geek of Catalan Modernism. Art History student, experienced guide and most importantly, with the ability to transmit that passion.
Everybody knows Gaudí, but Barcelona is a bunch of modernist buildings with a bunch of impressive ones like his, created by architects like Lluís Domènech i Montaner , in the tour that we dedicate this one. A key figure in this artistic current, with buildings declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
We will begin by understanding the context in which Modernism arises, and in which Domènech lives. We will continue, talking about his fundamental role in the Barcelona International Exhibition of 1888 (Castle of the Three Dragons in Ciutadella) and we will cross El Born to reach one of his best-known works, the Palau de la Música Catalana.
We will continue towards Paseo de Gracia, and we will see his work in the "Manzana de la Discordia", the Casa Lleò i Morera -by far, the doorman is not very nice-, and the Publishing House. Afterwards, we will enter the Eixample to see the Palau Montaner, Casa Tomas, Casa La Madrid and we will finish in one of his last works, Casa Fuster, at the end of Paseo de Gracia.
During the tour we will comment on the rest of the buildings that we will not be able to visit , such as the Hospital de Sant Pau i Santa Creu or his works in Canet de Mar, Reus or Comillas, accompanying the explanations with photos and drawings to better understand everything we talk about.
All this in a reduced tour (max 15 people) and for all audiences, with a fun atmosphere, very curious and with a very "geek" guide of modernism, sharing the activity in a fantastic experience to enrich your trip in Barcelona.
I will be in front of the monument to Rius I Taulet, at the end of Paseo de Lluis Companys, in front of the entrance to Ciutatella Park. https://goo.gl/maps/Hqx7U9c4yNkd78XGA I will wear a black t-shirt with the "MODERN TOURS" logo
