Wonders of Hungarian History- Buda Castle and the Underground Hidden Gems

We had an absolutely fantastic tour of the Buda side of Budapest and the Castle District with Matthew. As a history professor, he brought the city’s past to life in such an engaging and enthusiastic way. You can really tell that he loves what he does, and his passion made the whole experience unforgettable. Matthew shared so many interesting fun facts, personal family stories, and historical details that made the tour feel both informative and personal. He also included a quiz, which kept the whole group engaged and made the experience even more fun. He took us to some surprising and unexpected places around the Castle District and also showed us other things we could do in the area after the tour. I honestly wish I had had a history professor like him when I was in school! This was one of the best tours we have ever had, and we will definitely recommend it to all our friends and family in Portugal who visit Budapest.

We were a group of three and although there weren’t many other bookings and two people didn’t show up, he did the tour with us anyway! So we had our own little private tour of the castle district in Buda. It was so nice and interesting to hear about all the historic facts and get a new perspective on our surroundings. I highly recommend it!

Matthew is perhaps the best tour guide we’ve had over many years of travel. He had great historical information and he shared interesting and inspiring stories about Hungary. I really enjoyd this tour with Matthew. You can tell he doesn’t just “push play” as it sadly happens with many people who have chosen this profession. Matthew really knows how to mediate the history and culture and personalize his angle according to the backround of the group, if the size enables (as there were only 2 of us we really got a close and personal experience). So yes, highlly recommended.

Matthew is an amazing guide. His knowledge and experience are fantastic. His tour was very informative and we were disappointed when it ended. If you get the chance to do this tour, we highly recommend it recommend it - pay attention though, there may be a short quiz from this former history teacher!! 😂👍🏻
