I guess I am natural born guide who enjoys telling interesting stories and information about the past and present. A city and country should not just be boiled down to facts and figures, they are more than that. What makes them are people, traditions and typical ways of life. While strolling through the city centre, I won't give you a dull lesson in history, geography or politics. On the contrary, after the tour you will feel as being an insider yourself.
Dobro došli u Zagreb, u Hrvatsku… (Welcome to Zagreb, Croatia) are the first words you will here on your two-hour walking tour with me.
While strolling through the city centre, you will hear stories and anecdotes about people from Zagreb and Croatia, about our traditions, and our typical ways of life.
Zagreb, a Central European city with a Mediterranean flair, is known for its vibrant fusion of the past and present.
Our stroll takes you to the Upper town or, as we locals call it, Gornji Grad with narrow streets and picturesque medieval buildings that could tell plenty of stories. This historical centre is home to the Cathedral dedicated to the Assumption of Mary, the food market Dolac, known also as the belly of Zagreb, and the Stone Gate, a shrine within the city.
Further, you will visit the medieval heart of the town – the square Trg svetog Marka with one of the oldest buildings Saint Mark's Church known for its colourful tiled roof.
Stopping at the Lotrščak Tower, a beautiful panoramic view of the city unfolds.
The tour ends in one of the latest tourist attractions – at the tunnel Grič, built in 1943, during World War II, which is today used for hosting different kinds of events. When it is not used for events, it is an underground shortcut.
If you want to feel like being an insider yourself, join my tour.
The meeting point is in front of the sculpture of Ban Josip Jelačić and an umbrella.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
