Tour description

Mexico City is the 5th largest metropolis in the world. On this tour we will visit the eastern part of the city and one of the most populated neighborhoods: Iztapalapa .

This neighborhood has 1.8 million inhabitants and is surrounded by a chain of extinct volcanoes . It is also an area full of urban art and murals that can be seen from above.

We will do this tour in Cable Car 🚡 (Cablebus), the longest in the world and we will be able to observe the architecture of the houses, the layout of the streets, the volcanoes and mountains ⛰

We will visit a park with an incredible view, in addition to discovering three representative musical rhythms of the area: cumbia , sonidero and urban rock. 🎤

We will also talk about the way Mexicans lived at the beginning of the 20th century and how the eastern zone grew, the public service problems that existed for years and how they were solved, creating a very united community.

If you are interested in knowing a non-tourist area and seeing the way we live, this tour is for you.

It is necessary to bring:

  • Public transport card loaded with 29 Mexican pesos per person
  • Cash to pay for public transport and buy some things

Me cancelaron el tour dos horas antes de hacerlo. Ademas de la decepción por no poder hacerlo, tuve que reorganizar todo mi día para poder aprovechar mi estancia el la ciudad. Ojala que no les pase lo mismo!

Had a great time today on our tour with Kactus, she is knowledgeable and fun! She clearly explained not only where we were going but the history on when it was built and even what each stop on the metro meant (why they were named and have a symbol too). She is full of information while keeping it fun. Highly recommend her tour!

The tour was super interesting as we had the chance to visit a non-touristic area we would not have discovered otherwise. Karolina provided several insights about CDMX and Iztapalapa. We very much enjoyed the cable car ride and the city views from above. Thank you so much for this enriching tour!
