Tour description

Mexico City is the 5th largest metropolis in the world. On this tour we will visit the eastern part of the city and one of the most populated neighborhoods: Iztapalapa .

This neighborhood has 1.8 million inhabitants and is surrounded by a chain of extinct volcanoes . It is also an area full of urban art and murals that can be seen from above.

We will do this tour in Cable Car 🚡 (Cablebus), the longest in the world and we will be able to observe the architecture of the houses, the layout of the streets, the volcanoes and mountains ⛰

We will visit a park with an incredible view, in addition to discovering three representative musical rhythms of the area: cumbia , sonidero and urban rock. 🎤

We will also talk about the way Mexicans lived at the beginning of the 20th century and how the eastern zone grew, the public service problems that existed for years and how they were solved, creating a very united community.

If you are interested in knowing a non-tourist area and seeing the way we live, this tour is for you.

It is necessary to bring:

  • Public transport card loaded with 29 Mexican pesos per person
  • Cash to pay for public transport and buy some things

Leonardo was an amazing guide. It was so nice to learn where a lot of people live in Mexico city. A lot of our questions on daily lives of Mexicans were answered. We wouldn't have gone to the area if it was not for this tour.

An interesting and informative little adventure into an area that's less visited in Mexico City. Leonardo shared a lot of information and explained the historical, geographical, social, and cultural reasons that led to the creation of Iztapalapa, its Cablebus, and its art and music. He constantly made sure that we were OK and had all our questions answered.
