Hi! My name is Aurora, I'm a Jerez native and official tour guide specializing in Sherry Wines. I'd love to help you find out about the most authentic essence of my hometown, accompany you to visit small family bodegas and advise you so that you can experience the city as a real local through private walking tours, wine tastings, tapas tours... or whatever you can think of! The monumental richness of Jerez de la Frontera is undoubted, but its potential as a place to live exciting experiences, soak up its most authentic essence and create unforgettable memories is unique! - and this you can not get by reading a travel guide :)
It will be my pleasure to help you through a guiding tour around the city center of my hometown to discover the most relevant aspects of the history and culture of the capital of the Sherry Region so that you learn how to handle yourself in the city center like a real local.
Starting with a walk along the Alameda Vieja (or the ‘old boulevard’), a charming and inspiring spot for its beautiful views and magical environment, which is surrounded by jacarandas trees and the hipano-muslim Alcázar, while traveling back in time to the origins of city Jerez de la Frontera.
Then moving towards the old town, stopping in front of the monument dedicated to one of the most relevant characters in the impact of Sherry Wines industry in the city during the XIX century to know about the history of the famous Bodegas Tio Pepe.
After that, arriving at the stunning Cathedral, where we won’t only discover its monumental relevance from different perspectives, but also its history, peculiarities and importance in the city.
Not much later, walking along narrow streets while finding out interesting facts such as stories of noble families from the medieval times, the impact of the church in the city or the urban development of Jerez.
Then, getting to one of the most radiant squares, Plaza de la Asunción, which is surrounded by the old town hall, noble houses and San Dionisio church and continuing our walk until the actual town hall, located in a lively and busy street.
And finishing at the most iconic building of Jerez de la Frontera, the centenary Gallo Azul, to learn about its history and uncover the authentic origin of Sherry Wines.
Understand the city to get the most out of your experience!
