Hi! I'm Rudy. My father, grandfather, and even great grandfather worked in the harbors of Rotterdam. Some of my family members were shippers, others worked in shipbuilding and factories. I grew up in the small towns around Rotterdam (near the windmills), and lived in Rotterdam, where I studied film at the Art Academy. After that, I worked and lived in Japan for over 15 years, creating photos and videos for the Japanese travel agencies. A few years ago, I moved back to Rotterdam. Now I can see the city through both local and foreign eyes. Doing guided walks is a great way for me to reconnect with my roots, and have meaningful connections with people from all over the world!

Tour description

Experience an interesting, beautiful, and fun walking tour of Rotterdam.

Picture walking through beautiful old harbors, gazing at the craziest modern architecture, and connecting with a native guide who explains how it all came to be, and why Rotterdam is a city like no other!

I personally created this easygoing short walk near the city center, based on where I take my friends from abroad. You will see the coolest sights, like the Markthal, Erasmus Bridge, and Cube Houses.

It’s a perfect introduction to Rotterdam, including lots of advice to explore after the tour.

And you can sample my favourite Dutch snacks at the Markthall! Yum!
(There is a special market hall treat that I just found myself, but it's a bit crazy, and not for everyone...)

Having worked as a photographer and video creator in Japan for 15 years, I’ll show you relevant archival photos about  the things we see. There is war, art, architecture, history and food!
The pictures are part of the story of Rotterdam, and there is a story in every corner!

I can even grab your phone and shoot some epic pictures from the best angles, as your personal photographer! ;)

So, are you ready for the most beautiful morning in the unique city of Rotterdam?
